A qualified lawyer, a junior annotator and a senior developer can see very different opportunities even after joining the same network. The practical choice is the platform with a current role that accepts your location and matches your experience.

Choose by the work you can actually do
Professional expertise: Mercor, micro1 and Ethos all seek specialists, but their entry paths differ. Mercor lets you browse individual opportunities before creating an account. micro1 offers open applications and skill certification; certification makes you eligible to be considered, not guaranteed a project. Ethos builds a detailed expert profile and matches it to client work; joining the network is not an offer.
Code and technical evaluation: check Revelo if you can inspect, debug or explain code. Its talent site describes both flexible AI-training projects and full-time remote software jobs, which have different contracts and benefits. Also inspect specific Turing roles: some ask for programming and API or JSON experience, a timed assessment and 20–40 hours a week with US Pacific Time overlap.
Non-coding roles: Turing sometimes lists writing, language, science and video-review work. These are still screened jobs, not instant-access microtasks. Search the jobs guide for other generalist options if you cannot meet a specialist brief.
Compare the screening effort before applying
- Find the actual opening. Record the job title, location, required experience, workload and stated rate. A platform homepage is not proof that a job is available to you.
- Check the country rule. Mercor lists unsupported registration countries and says an opportunity with no specified location defaults to the US, Canada, UK or EU. micro1 publishes country exclusions but a specific project can still have narrower requirements. Turing role pages often name eligible countries. Ethos and Revelo require project or payment-jurisdiction confirmation. See our country eligibility guide.
- Estimate the screening cost. Mercor can require a resume, AI interview and work-authorization confirmation. micro1 uses skill certification and says passing does not guarantee immediate placement. Ethos starts with an expert interview. Turing and Revelo vary by role. Apply first where your evidence of skill is strongest.
- Verify pay on the role, not a directory headline. Public rates cover very different occupations, locations and contracts. An advertised hourly figure is not a guarantee of paid hours. Ask how submitted work is approved and when payment is released.
Which should you try first?
If you can point to a current role that matches your qualifications, country and available hours, start there. For a senior specialist, compare a live Mercor or micro1 role with an Ethos profile. For an experienced programmer, compare Revelo’s code work with current Turing and Mercor openings. For someone in Kenya or Nigeria, inspect the named Turing role countries and micro1’s exclusions before considering Mercor; Mercor’s current unsupported-country list includes Kenya.
